What the lab assumes
Buoyancy: average density is mass divided by displaced volume. NOAA teaching material gives fresh water near 1 g/cm³ and a 1.025 g/cm³ reference example for seawater at 34.5‰ salinity and 15 °C.
Gravity: standard Earth gravity uses the NIST value 9.80665 m/s². Other-world reference values come from NASA’s planetary fact sheet.
Sound: the calculator uses NASA’s ideal-gas relation a = √(γRT) with dry-air constants. It is an approximation, not a weather model.
